14 aspirants file to contest primaries in 3 constituencies in the North East Region


Fourteen aspirants are vying to be elected as New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidates in three constituencies in the North East Region.
A statement from the party said at the close of nominations on February 20, three women and eleven men had filed for the primaries which are scheduled for April 25, 2020.
In the Bunkpurugu Constituency, four persons, including incumbent, Solomon Namliit Boar, are expected to contest.
In Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency, MP and Local Government Minister, Alima Mahama faces opposition from three contestants.
In Walewale, MP, Dr. Sagre Bambangi is being challenged by five aspirants. 
“We use this opportunity to admonish the contestants to undertake their campaigns in a manner that will not divide our ranks ahead of the 2020 elections by the deployment of foul language to undermine their opponents,” the party wrote.

FOURTEEN ASPIRANTS FILE TO CONTEST PRIMARIES IN THREE CONSTITUENCIES IN THE NORTH-EAST REGION
On the 20th January 2020, the New Patriotic Party opened nominations for interested and eligible party members to file nominations to contest in the upcoming primaries in constituencies with sitting NPP MPs.
The month long process ended on the 20th February 2020. At the close of nominations, fourteen aspirants filed to contest in three constituencies of the North-East Region consisting of three women and eleven men. The details are as follows:
1. BUNKPURUGU CONSTITUENCY

2. Jabong Minnyilia
3. Daniel Duut Janamah
4. Francis Konbong Tingoti
NALERIGU/GAMBAGA CONSTITUENCY
1. Hajia Alima Mahama
2. Mohammed Sampa
3. Peter Wuni Baaga
4. Dr. Musah Yamba Issahaku
WALEWALE CONSTITUENCY
1. Dr. Sagre  Bambangi
2. Lariba Zuwera Abudu
3. Seth Panwum Boyoyo
4. Yidana Zakaria
5. Ishaq Issahaku
6. Dr. Susana Alo
We use this opportunity to admonish the contestants to undertake their campaigns in a manner that will not divide our ranks ahead of the 2020 elections by the deployment of foul language to undermine their opponents. The party also frowns upon the open endorsement of aspirants by constituency officers since that conduct has calamitous electoral consequences.
The NPP, bequeathed to us by our forebears is one with enviable democratic credentials and all party members have an abiding responsibility to safeguard and protect such credentials.
May the best candidates who can deliver or retain the seats in our constituencies, win.
