Taiba Deishinah Shaibu
Respected brothers and sisters in Islam, I greet you all with the best of greetings and the greetings of (Al Jannah) heaven assalamu alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuhu. Just some few weeks ago, Allah favored us among those who witnessed this blessed month of Ramadan and the least we can say is Alhamdulillahi, because there were others who were in full anticipation with us for this holy month but we fail to count them amongst the living. With this big favor alone from our Lord and the Lord of the world we praise Him. Subhaanallah! Even though this blessed month was observed amidst the severe pandemic of our generation; Covid 19 but Muslims around the globe never gave it up maa shaa Allah.

May Allah safeguard us from this deadly disease. Several mysterious things occurred, and among them are, Mosques closed for the first time in our history, visiting of family and friends even for iftar became strange, a lot of normality were brought to a standstill and so on. At the early quarter of this year 2020, millions of precious lives across the globe were lost whiles others had to struggle with death. Notwithstanding that, do not forget the sayings of Allah (SWT) “And we will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient”. “Who when disaster strikes them, they say indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return”. “Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are rightly guided” Quran 2:155-157.

I also extend my heartfelt condolences and prayers to all families of bereaved. To Allah belongs whatever He takes, stay patient. In addition, O brothers and sisters Ramadan is departing us today, but Allah will never depart, and He reigns forever. On that account, if you replenished your emaan by virtue of Ramadan then it is surely leaving but if it was for the sake of the One who prescribed Ramadan, then He is forever merciful. Zakat fitr is compulsory on whoever has the means to do so, do your best and give it out to the needy and remember the favors of Allah on you. As we keep on crying to Allah to wipe away this pandemic as He saved the people of Younus, as He healed the sickness of Ayyub, and as He loves to pardon us of our sins, May He in His own might and wisdom that excels and exceeds everything answer the worlds prayer.

Fellow Muslims, the reality and truth is that, we only know what happened in the past and what has just happened, we can however never know what will happen tomorrow as Allah said in Quran 31:33&34. With reference to these ayaat, I am reminding us all to be steadfast and hold firm to the rope of Allah as we know not when we shall meet him and account for our deeds. What if this is our last Ramadan in life? What if today is our last day and chance! Renew and nourish your intentions and never think you are better than someone and never have hatred for your brother for we are nothing, but dust and life is noticeably short. O fellow Muslims, humans are nothing but travelers. Do whatever you do that draws you closer to your Rabb!
In conclusion, O brothers and sisters do not live your life as a Ramadan Muslim, but as a Muslim and a mu’min described in the book of Allah. kindly reflect on the following aayat (3:185), (3:102). On behalf of our noble organization, Global Muslimah Youth Organization, I say EID MUBARAK!!!!!.

IN A POLITICAL SPHERE FULL OF UNCERTAINTIES: THE ONLY SURE THING IS “ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE INTENTIONS...By  YAKUBU HUSEIN PUMAYA YAKUBU HUSEIN PUMAYA As a fresher, I got attracted to any aspirant who was bold enough to speak to me. In my mind, the best form of bravery was the ability to speak to strangers; that was what I considered to be the hallmark of a true leader. If more than one aspirant spoke to me, I considered the one who was more fluent to be the best candidate. In effect, my opinion of whom a good leader is, was based on his/her ability to speak good English.  When I was a fresher, I remember telling one of my seniors that I thought a particular candidate was going to win. He asked me why, and I answered proudly, “because he was the first to come to my class and he spoke perfect English”. He laughed at me and said, “Small boys are young”.  After 3 years on campus, it has become clear that I was indeed small and young. I have learnt that ...
