DANGAATA   In what now appear as ‘’cheap political talk’’ from the school’s management, it has now become apparent that DECEPTION has migrated from partisan politics to academia.  In a letter dated 7th April, 2020, exactly a month today, the management of Ghana Institute of Journalism under a certificate of urgency instructed students using AirtelTigo to update their portals with phone numbers from the said telco for provision of data to aid their online learning.  The decision came as a result of countless complaints from students about expensive data cost they had to bear in order to participate in the online classes. To Whom It May Concern—By Dangaata  DANGAATA  I listened to an audio in circulation on various platforms, bearing the voice of the SRC General Secretary, Nambe Patrick, in which he sought to douse the inferno directed at the SRC by agitated students who are justifiably enraged by what has now become clear as incompetence on the part of the SRC.  I find it disappointing, and utterly shameful, that the SRC at this crucial moment is going about soliciting for ideas and views on how to go about the challenge we're faced with as students. UPSA SRC President suspended over failure to render proper financial accounts MwinZumah SRC President UPSA  The Students Representative Council President of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has reportedly been indefinitely suspended over his failure to give a proper account of how he used some student funds. UPSA SRC President, Peter MwinZumah, was expected to appear before the SRC General Assembly on Monday to answer questions on allegations that his office had misappropriated funds, but he failed to show up. This led the General Assembly to, on Monday, February 24, move a motion for his suspension over his attitude towards the legislative body. Meeting to probe 66k SRC cash postponed for second time The leadership of the General Assembly of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) has for the second time postponed its meeting to probe the findings of the Audit Committee. On February 7, 2020, the Assembly resolved to subject the Financial Statement of the SRC to a second auditing process. The decision follows discrepancies observed in the statement presented to the house. Also, members of the house identified some expenses that had not been sanctioned by the General Assembly. Subsequently, a motion was moved by the house to refer the financial statement to the audit board. The motion further tasked the Audit Committee to probe the unsanctioned expenses and where applicable surcharge the monies. UPSA SRC ‘splashes’ GHC 53k on training seminars and stationery Barely a week after students of the University of Ghana demanded an explanation from its Students Representative Council over some monies that were spent without appropriate approval, their colleagues at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), are wondering why their leaders will spend a whooping GHC 53,000 on organizing seminars, procurement of office equipment and stationery.
