Yesterday gave me a chance of witnessing pure class, brevity and dexterity in a great showing at a vetting room. Just as new leaves replace old ones, so it is done in leadership, especially student politics which offers a chance of an annual new leadership.
This year, ten people have birthed the interest of leading the UEW students front, and as expected, and a key part of the electoral process, The ten presidential hopefuls had to appear before the vetting committee to have a fair discourse with them about their mission and vision which will help carry UEW to the next level.
One of the vetting process that caught my maximum attention was the vetting of EMMANUEL ANNOBIL (TEA) with his running mate AMOS EFFUM who appeared before the panel at exactly 9:00 pm. Before the ushering in of the two Gentlemen, there was so much applause and an appraisal from the teeming students whose only hope is to see TEA pass his vetting and win the election. The cheering, the show of bravado, the adrenaline drive and show of love for Emmanuel Annobil (TEA) was one that will be inscripted in the history books of UEW -SRC, that for the first time in the history of this noble institution, the vetting committee had to call for reinforcement from the Police service before the process could continue.
At this stage, you cannot imagine how confused I was, this candidate (TEA) was the 7th to appear, and I witnessed the appearance of 6 candidates before, and this was beyond whatever I have ever seen, read or even witnessed in a vetting room. I kept wondering what qualities the next to be vetted presidential aspirant has that could pull a whole crowd to fill up the Jophus Anamoah Mensah Conference center, this is the biggest hall in UEW, all the big functions and celebrations are done there, and you can imagine what it takes to get it full. The cheering was a sight to behold, the crowd was loud, a such that even the visually impaired will see.
During the vetting process, some interrogations from the panel towards this presidential aspirant and his vice were around the curriculum vitae, their life experiences, and plans for the UEW SRC going forward. Prominent among these issues were the plans that Emmanuel Annobil(TEA) has for the whole student body and UEW to make it a better place. Before he was vetted, I saw him as a less knowledgeable aspirant but when it finally started, the questions asked however tough, were challenged and correctly answered by Mr. Emmanuel Annobil(TEA) and Mr. Effum Amos.
Alas, I shamelessly swallowed my doubts as he proved to have an excellent track record, vision and understanding of the current state of UEW - SRC affairs and the students' needs. Mr. Emmanuel Annnobil(TEA) and his vice, Mr. Effum Amos appeared before the panel with class, spoke crisp and delicate English, and wow, they had the mastery and swag, exhibiting high level of brilliance and excellence in answering the questions.
One thing that really aroused my enthusiasm to listen more was that among all the candidates that appeared before the panel, Emmanuel Annobil is the only one that spoke and believes in collectivism, in his words, "Our SRC should be a kind that listens to all the over 40, 000 students of our union, and their concerns must be taken into fullest consideration in championing beneficial courses" be one of the major keys to making UEW SRC a better place for all students of UEW.
At the end of the vetting, all students present, understood Emmanuel Annobil (TEA) and Mr. Effum Amos's ideas, their feasible policies, helpful experiences, got informed about the pair's understanding of issues, their personality, and their understanding of the current state of UEW-SRC affairs.
By all standards, he (EMMANUEL ANNOBIL and EFFUM AMOS) proved to be the best candidates to lead the next UEW SRC and this vetting process is an embellished sign of this reality.
Anything more to add?, We are in safe hands, Let's keep hopes alive!
